We wanted to see a database of the newest, hottest music. Since one didn’t exist, we made one.
OffTheTraX is a live snapshot of the premiere music blogs in the hip hop / r&b / club corners of the blogosphere.
We are not a replacement of the blogs we track at all. We want the world to embrace us only as a gateway to the cats in the trenches, the bloggers.
There will always be a linkback provided to the original posts from the original blogs. For a more detailed look at how it works check our FAQ page.
You can stay up on the latest music through our RSS feed, Twitter, and Facebook pages.
Although OffTheTrax does not link directly to any .mp3 or video files, we understand that there may be a gray area regarding certain content. Contact us at info@offthetrax.com and we’ll go from there.
Features
There are 3 main features that you should know about.
My Trax
The first is the My Trax system. When you like a post, you click the gray star next to it’s title. The page will reload and the star will be blue. That post will now be stored on your My Trax page. It’s like a different way to bookmark posts that you like. Say you’re in a hurry but see a song you know you’re gonna want to check later, just click the star and it’s saved on your page. Soon, we plan to add a feature that will allow you to stream all of your Traxed posts/songs. We’re working hard on that.
Music Streaming
The second main feature is the song streaming at the bottom of the page. It’s still has some bugs and currently, it can only stream Zshare links, and direct .mp3 links that are attached to posts. We are working hard on setting streaming up for Mediafire, Usershare, Limelinx, etc.
Search
Since a lot of new content is pulled into OTT daily, if you don’t visit often, you might have to do some searching to find the music that you are looking for. If you want to narrow down your search results, try using quotes. (Example: searching for 50 Cent, you will get all the posts that contain the words 50 and cent. If you search with quotes: “50 cent”, you get all of the posts that contain the phrase 50 cent.
OffTheTrax is still in beta for a few reasons. We know there will be some bugs. Second of all, we plan to improve the music streaming system and the whole user experience. The goal is to continue to improve and add new features, and to keep you, the OTT fam happy. Any suggestions, comments, or questions are welcome. We can be reached here.
