FAQ
What is this? What features should I know about?
Basically, we wanted to see a database of the hottest, dopest, newest music, from the best hip hop/r&b/club blogs. Since one didn’t exist, we made one.
OffTheTrax is not trying replace or compete with the blogs it pulls from, at all. We want the world to embrace us only as a gateway to the cats in the trenches, the bloggers. Think of us sort of like a Google, for music… kind of.
For more of an explanation, and the site’s features, check here.
How does it work?
OffTheTrax tracks MP3 blogs. If a post contains new music, it pulls those links onto the frontpage.
Each post that is pulled into our site is linked directly back to the original post on the blog it came from.
Why should I signup for an account?
Signing up and logging in will allow you to Trax (favorite) the songs that you like most, it also opens up the comment system, and in the future, even more features.
Why is my blog being Tracked?
Because we felt it fit the criteria well, a premiere hip hop and r&b music blog.
How do I submit my blog?
You can submit your blog here. We try to only include blogs that are updated often, well-formatted, and full of new content.
Why would I submit my blog?
More exposure. That’s always a good thing right? We don’t care if the blog is popular or not, big or small. If it fits the mold, we want to include it. And because every post on OffTheTrax links directly back to you, you should see an increase in your visitors. Also, we only pull certain posts, and certain content out of those posts. Why are some of my posts not showing up?
We try hard to keep from pulling duplicate content. So if another blog posted the same song, and it got to us first, your post/track might get skipped. We’ll have some more info on this later.
My blog posted a track first, why did another blog get it listed on OffTheTrax?
It’s no secret that new music travels fast on the net. It all depends on which blog we happen to pick that track up on first. There’s a lot of factors to that. With that said, our goal is to promote not only the most popular/big blogs that usually post a song first, but to promote the smaller, up-and-coming blogs right along side the popular blogs. So sometimes, if we see the same track coming in from different blogs, we might give the nod to a smaller blog, to get them a little traffic/recognition. In the end, our aim is to get new music to people, and new people to your blog.
What else should I know?
Some bloggers might not care too much about this, and some might care a whole lot about it. We are working on filtering out the majority of the post content, for a couple reasons. We don’t want to affect rankings on Google or any other search engine. What this means is that when someone Googles to find a song that you posted, we want you to come up way before us, since you created it. We are careful and take a lot of precautions to assure this doesn’t happen. If someone ends up here first, we link directly to you on the homepage and on the actual post itself anyways, so they’ll be on their way. If you would like to know more, don’t hesitate to ask.
I don’t want my blog to be ‘Traxed.
You sure? Okay.
